Finally! Spring has sprung! Temperatures are rising, flowers are blooming, birds are singing, and it’s an especially great time to get outside with your dog!

I don’t know about you, but I’m really excited about all the fun things my dogs and I are doing outdoors this Spring; things like long nature walks, extra playtime in the backyard, and even longer excursions like camping or hiking.

Spring also has its showers, and we’ve experienced more than a little rain here in the midwest. That’s why you have to prepare accordingly. Here are just a few tips for keeping your dog safe this spring, no matter where you live.

5 Tips For Keeping Your Dog Safe This Spring

1. Get A Dog Towel

Unpredictable bouts of rain in Spring can be lot of fun, especially if you have a dog who loves playing in the mud. They’ll be a mess afterward, though, so make sure you have the required equipment on hand.

A dog towel will have absorbent microfiber, making it more effective than the regular kind. Use a wet cloth to wipe off any mud from your mutt’s paws and body, and then use the dog towel to dry them off.

This is a great option for any dog, especially the ones who don’t like the sound of a hairdryer or a full-fledged bath.

2. Find The Right Dog Coat

Keep your dog protected from the spring rains with the right gear. This includes a specially made raincoat. This investment will keep your pet somewhat dry even if there’s a deluge of rain.

Plus, a proper raincoat will allow your dog to move around almost as freely as before.

You can find many varieties of dog coats at the Pet Life website. Choose a bright color; this will help to keep your dog in sight even if they wander off for some time.

You can also go to Pet Life for getting your dog boots along with other rain gear to prepare for spring.

3. Invest In a Dog Crate

If you’re thinking about taking your dog out on longer activities like camping, you’ll want to get a nice travel-friendly dog crate. There are several available in the market today. But don’t just pick up any old one.

Keep an eye out for a crate that’s made of a sturdy nylon blended material. This makes it comfortable for you to carry. The bedding inside the crate should also be washable.

4. Use a Supplement

We usually get stuffy sinuses and runny noses when the weather takes any kind of turn. Dogs aren’t much different. Therefore, you should think about getting a suitable supplement to keep your dog as healthy as possible.

Consult your vet with questions about the best supplement to give your dog the proper blend of nutrients and vitamins for maintaining a health and active lifestyle this spring. This will ensure that you get a maximum amount of fun out of those glorious spring days!

5. Keep Your Dog Away From Plants

Blossoming flowers, green plants, and fresh air – all of that makes Spring the perfect season to enjoy the outdoors. However, be sure to keep your dog away from those plants that can cause diarrhea, vomiting, or any other illness.

Familiarize yourself with the kinds of plants you should avoid, and always keep the ASPCA’s poison control number handy.
